What use is a good office chair if it is not correctly adjusted to the user’s needs? Little or no use at all. Dauphin, as a trendsetter in the areas of occupational medicine and ergonomic seating, is all too familiar with the problem. “This issue is particularly relevant in offices where people share desks. There is nothing worse than an incorrectly adjusted, yet otherwise ‘healthy’ office swivel chair,” said Dr Jochen Ihring, a member of the Dauphin Group’s board of directors.
In view of this fact, the office experts from Offenhausen developed “Syncro-Dynamic” several years ago. This patented ergonomic mechanism features automatic weight compensation and seat-tilt adjustment as standard, allowing users to sit dynamically in a balanced posture. The advantage lies in the fact that the seat and backrest simultaneously follow the movements of the person sitting and always remain at the correct angle. Once the chair has been set to the user's individual body weight, the constant backrest counterpressure ensures a balanced seated posture throughout the movement process. This prevents the monotony when sitting which causes so many illnesses.
The chair also features automatic seat-depth regulation – the so-called “Auto-Glide-System”. This ensures that the seat depth automatically adjusts to meet the needs of both large and small people during the synchronised movement process. As a result, “Lordo” guarantees that the pelvis lies in the correct position and reduces or even prevents pressure on the thighs which can hinder blood flow – regardless of the seated posture.
Martin Ballendat cleverly combined this compact mechanism with a light, modern design. The well known designer who has worked with the DHDG for many years paid particular attention to the backrest. The attractive transparent backrest fabric features horizontal stripes and is available in black or light grey. With its elastic design, it helps to regulate pressure. Instead of being drawn over the frame in the usual manner from top to bottom in two layers, it is fixed to the frame and has just a single layer. This produces a very pleasant cushioning effect – something which makes “Lordo” even more comfortable and beneficial to health.
Dauphin now offers a complete range of “Lordo” chairs, with a classic office swivel chair available with or without armrests, an executive chair with an extra-high backrest, a cantilever chair and a conference swivel chair for meetings and conferences.
The innovative and striking range of products won the “Focus in Silver” prize in the “Focus Open”, the Design Center Stuttgart’s design competition. A total of 438 entries were received. 84 products “representing top-quality product development of an international standard” were awarded the design prize.
